Jonny Cocker went from fourth to first in the last four laps on Sunday as Drayson Racing won its first race in the American Le Mans Series. Jonny Cocker went from fourth to first in the last four laps on Sunday as Drayson Racing won its first race in the American Le Mans Series. Cocker passed Team CytoSport’s Klaus Graf with two turns remaining at Elkhart Lake and won the race by 1.051 seconds in the Lola-Judd coupe that he shares with Lord Paul Drayson.

Cocker was 6.295 seconds quicker than Graf on the final lap. The young Brit passed the Porsche RS Spyder when the leading prototype balked while low on fuel during the final lap. Chassis manufacturer Lola won for the second straight race and Judd power won overall for the first time since 1999, the second race of the Series’ now 116 events.

“On that last lap I could see Klaus hadn’t had a splash and suspected he was in fuel-saving mode,” Cocker said. “I was expecting to catch him, but not that amount. I think a big portion was he got caught behind a Porsche in Turn 9 and another GT car in 10. But I knew we had the pace to get on the rear of his car, and to get there in Turn 12 and make it in 13. I knew it would be the only opportunity; if I was behind him on the straight I knew he’d be able to block me. It was a bold move for sure, but I wasn’t going to throw away second place. Well done to our team though.”

It was an incredible weekend for Drayson. Cocker was on pole position for the second straight race and set the fastest race lap, and the team won the LMP category in the MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge, a competition within the race that awards teams for overall performance and environmental efficiency.






Hungary LMS

Matthieu Lahaye & Jacques Nicolet, driving their Oak Racing Pescarolo-Judd N°24, finished in an excellent 3rd place at the Hungaroring 1000Km, the 4th round of the 2010 Le Mans Series. Their podium in LMP2 was also a magnificent 3rd place overall and they were victorious in the Michelin Green X Challenge too, cementing their lead in this prestigious competition.

The 2 Judd powered OAK cars finished 7th & 9th overall (2nd [Continue....]]]> At the end of the 2010 LeMans 24 hours, 3 of the top 10 finishers were powered by our engines (the equal of Audi!) The Oreca-Aim car finished 4th overall (beating Peugeot, Aston Martin, Acura etc.), was the 1st Petrol car home, using a 90 deg 5.5 litre engine designed and developed by EDL. A fitting tribute to the late Hiro Kaneda, the crucial link between EDL and AIM.

The 2 Judd powered OAK cars finished 7th & 9th overall (2nd and 4th in class), a fantastic result. Race Performance and Kruse also finished, capping a week of excellent reliability for our engines. The Race Performance result is particularly notable as they used the same engine for the whole week. The engine was fresh for the Wednesday test and ran faultlessly setting a new engine distance record for us.

The Ascari is powered by an EDL developed BMW V8 and the engine performance and reliabilty stood out at the Scottish circuit:

The Racing Box Lola-Judd driven by the team owner Ferdinando Geri finished in an excellent 5th place in the LMP2 class.

Michelin Green X Challenge 1000Km [Continue....]]]> The Judd powered Oak Racing Team Mazda France LMP2 cars finished 3rd & 4th at the Spa 1000 km LMS race at the weekend, their second successive podium, cementing their strong position in the points standings. By being the most fuel efficient cars they also triumphed in the Michelin Green X challenge which they now lead.

The Racing Box Lola-Judd driven by the team owner Ferdinando Geri finished in an excellent 5th place in the LMP2 class.

The #35 OAK Racing Mazda France Pescarolo-Judd finished 2nd in the LMP2 class, the sister car #24 finished 4th. Having lead much of the race the #35 car was overtaken in the final hour, overall the team were very pleased with the results particularly as the race carries double points so it was [Continue....]]]> Judd powered cars finished on both the LMP1 & 2 podiums at the season opening 8 hour LMS race at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, France.

The #35 OAK Racing Mazda France Pescarolo-Judd finished 2nd in the LMP2 class, the sister car #24 finished 4th. Having lead much of the race the #35 car was overtaken in the final hour, overall the team were very pleased with the results particularly as the race carries double points so it was even more important to achieve a good result at the first event.

In the LMP1 the Rebellion racing car finished in an excellent 3rd place overall after a trouble free run.

The 2 new Rebellion racing cars finished the test 3rd & 4th overall, an encouraging result for the new package, the team very pleased with the amount of running [Continue....]]]> For the 3rd year running, an AIM powered car was the class of the Paul Ricard test. The Oreca-Aim was fastest in each session and posted the quickest time overall of 1:42.96, nearly 1 second ahead of the 2nd place Oreca-Peugeot, a pretty significant achievement for the Judd designed and developed engine.

The 2 new Rebellion racing cars finished the test 3rd & 4th overall, an encouraging result for the new package, the team very pleased with the amount of running achieved over the 2 days, inspite of the inclement conditions.

In LMP2 the cars of OAK racing, Racing Box, KSM and Race Performance ran trouble free over the 2 days. This bodes well for the 8 hour LMS race at Paul Ricard in April.
